10 Steps to Successful Coaching

October 1, 2017

Editorial Inspirations Editing/Indexing/Proofreading www.EditorialInspirations.com

10 Steps to Successful Coaching demonstrates why coaching can be a powerful tool to drive organization performance and support the achievement of individual career goals. The solid, understandable process presented in the book encourages and supports positive, long-term change. Ultimately, the author contends, coaching is a pathway to greater satisfaction on the job (as a manager or employee) and at home (as a friend, spouse, and parent).

April Michelle Davis wrote the index for this book. April Michelle looks for ways to share her craft, so while examining the text for the index, she completed a light proofread as a courtesy to the publisher, which included any errors she noticed while examining the text for the index.

Esten “Dummy” Hanson was born deaf. He couldn’t hear the applause or the jeers. But he sure could pitch a baseball. He was one of Minnesota’s premier amateur baseball pitchers in the early 1900s. “Dummy” Hanson is about a boy who grows into a man with a love and a talent and how he overcomes his challenges to pursue it.

April Michelle Davis worked with the author to substantively edit the manuscript. She and the author worked together over a 6-week period to fact check and correct grammatical errors, preparing the manuscript for the publisher.

Call of the Blue J

May 1, 2017

It is 2008, and the presidential election is about to take place. Jared Justin Juhl, Jr., as ”4J,” is about ready to accept his party’s nomination for reelection in Indianapolis. His campaign takes a bead turn when he faces murder charges for killing Jennifer Blue, his staff aide during his 1980 senate campaign twenty-eight years earlier. DNA test results are the basis for solving this ”cold case.”

A Constitutional crisis looms between the secret service and US Marshals, on 4J’s side, preventing his arrest for perceived political motivations, and local law enforcement, intent on arresting him. Both sides are empowered to arrest the other side’s members under the jurisdiction of each. Which side prevails in the crisis? Will 4J be found guilty of the murder with his DNA found at the scene?

April Michelle Davis spent one week proofreading Call of the Blue J for the self-publisher. She worked with the publisher to meet the author’s expectations and finalize a product the author could be proud of.

Bye Bye Monster

April 1, 2017

Joey had monsters in his closet, so bedtime was never easy. He heard strange noises in his room at night and often thought they were monsters. Joey is convinced he can face his fear when a furry monster named Barley pops out of his dresser drawer. Once Barley explains that all monsters aren’t scary, he takes Joey on an adventure to Monster Street where children go when they cannot sleep at night. All children will be able to relate to Joey’s nighttime challenge and will enjoy taking an adventure with him as he encounters handy ways to use his spray, meet new friends, and learn valuable lessons along the way.

April Michelle Davis proofread this children’s book, reviewing not only the text for errors but also the placement of the text on each page in comparison to the images. She worked with the self-publisher to finalize Bye Bye Monster before it was sent to the printer.

Beyond Learning ObjectivesToday’s organizations demand a focus on higher-level objectives―objectives that clearly provide business impact and value and satisfy the expectations of a wide range of key stakeholders.

If you’re involved in implementing projects, programs, initiatives, or solutions in your organization, Beyond Learning Objectives can help you meet these new expectations. This book provides step-by-step processes for defining, measuring, and developing six types of objectives: input, reaction, learning, application, impact, and ROI. You’ll also learn to avoid common pitfalls in the development of objectives, such as unclear, incomplete, nonspecific, or even missing objectives. And you’ll learn how well crafted, results-driven objectives can satisfy the needs of all your stakeholders.

With this book in your hands, you can become a champion of well-defined objectives, providing direction, focus, and guidance. By spelling out expectations, creating commitment, and positioning your initiatives for success, you’ll help your organization align its programs with its results and leap forward into the state-of-the-art world of measurable performance.

April Michelle Davis was given one month to write the index for this book. She used the guidelines presented in the Chicago Manual of Style for indexes, and she even provided the client with proofreading comments she noticed while writing the index.
